Ti-oss OCP coated bovine xenograft – more bone than Bio-oss at 25% less cost.

Ti-oss represents the first significant differences in xenograft material science in over 4 decades.

Researchers at Ti-oss developed a unique process and particle coating technology which ensures optimal characteristics for handling, angiogenesis and cell differentiation proven in studies to deliver:

  • Enhanced human bone formation – 23% new bone at 26-32 weeks. (Lee and Co-workers)

  • A quicker graft turnover than Bio-oss from Geistlich Biomaterials with 15% graft remnants v 36% for Bio-Oss (Yoona Jung / Valentini, JOMI, 2018 Nov/Dec;33(6):1345-1350)

  • Superior bone fill and bone density compared to Dental Allograft DFDBA. (Najeeb and co-workers)

THE FIVE KEY Ti-OSS UPGRADES IN DETAIL

1. PROCESSING UPGRADE.

Ti-oss uses 100% cancellous bone. Most xenografts use a mix of cortical and cancellous bone. All xenografts must be processed before use in humans with high heat processing creating harder, more dense structures with fewer micropores not favoured by new bone cells.  Ti-oss applies a sophisticated processing using low temperatures supplemented by pH control chemicals which retains optimal porosity and pore structure ensuring excellent wettability, surface area and angiogenesis – the precursor to quick vascularisation and early healing.

2. SURFACE UPGRADE.

Ti-oss bone is presented with an OCP surface coating.  OCP (octa calcium phosphate) is shown to encourage fast bone formation with histological measures demonstrating enhanced osteoblast adhesion compared to alternatives.  Read more in the OCP bio-activity paper_Ti-Oss

3. POROSITY UPGRADE.

Osteoblasts, oxygen and nutrients necessary for new bone formation are delivered inside a graft via new blood vessel ingrowth (angiogenesis). Maximum angiogenesis occurs when the pore size is around 300 microns.  Ti-oss bone uses only cancellous bone – naturally the most porous which combined with its unique processing ensures an average pore size of 300 – 400 microns. This compares more favourably than Bio-oss which shows an average pore size of 100-200 microns.

4. EFFICIENCY UPGRADE.

ti-oss more volume than bi-ossHigher porosity means less Ti-oss is needed to fill the same size defect defect compared to alternatives from Geistlich Biomaterials (Bio-oss) and Nibec as shown in the test image for volume fill of 0.5g.

Volume fill (0.5g) left to right – Ti-oss, Bio-Oss, Nibec.

5. ECONOMIC UPGRADE.

Ti-oss OCP coated xenograft is available at a list price some 20% less than Bio-oss from Geistlich Biomaterials.  First orders receive 1 free for 3 units with all subsequent orders enjoying 1 free for every 5 purchased.

Switch your xenograft to Ti-oss and enjoy more bone than Bio-Oss at up to 25% less cost!
