Ti-oss bovine xenograft – more bone than Bio-oss ¹ at 25% less cost.

The key reasons for this are pore, surface and processing enhancements.

1. PORE SIZE AND DENSITY

Ti-oss uses cancellous bone, which is more porous and less dense than grafts containing cortical parts.

->High porosity is a prerequisite to clot adsorption and blood penetration.

->High Porosity means less graft to fill the same-sized defect. Less graft means less money.

Bio-Oss (A) pore size 100-200 microns. Ti-oss (B) pore size 300 – 400 microns.ti-oss more volume than bi-oss

Defect efficiency 0.5g. Ti-oss (L), Bi-Oss (M), Nibec (R)

2. SURFACE.

Ti-oss bone is presented with an OCP hydrophilic surface coating.  Octa calcium phosphate (OCP) encourages fast bone formation.

-> Enhanced clot adhesion and improved osteoblast retention compared to alternatives.

3. UNIQUE PROCESSING.

All naturally derived grafts (xenograft and allograft) must be processed before use in another human.  Processing with high heat creates a denser material (more crystalline) that the body is less able to remodel.  By contrast, Tio-oss is processed with mid-level temperature, supplemented by chemical and gas washing. This results in a higher percentage of material the body can replace rather than one it treats more as a foreign body with fibrous encapsulation.

-> 15% graft remnants v 35% for Bio-Oss (Yoona Jung / Valentin, JOMI 2018. 33 (6) @1345=1350)

->Superior bone fill and bone density compared to Allograft (DFDBA –Najeeb and co-workers)

 more bone than bio-oss

1. (Lee and Co-workers). Calvarial defects at 8 weeks. Sangho, Korean University Hospital, OMF Dept, Jan 24.  Ti-oss has complete new bone infill compared to partial bone infill in the Bio-oss group of 6 samples.
