THE CHALLENGE. Maintaining a constant parallel scalpel depth is difficult, often resulting in wedge-shaped or uneven grafts which require extra benchtop thinning and trimming, wasting tissue and time.  Overcoming these limitations often requires the surgeon to create a larger or deeper wound than necessary, intensifying postoperative pain and increasing healing times. 

THE ANSWER. This simple device allows you to harvest a uniform-thickness palatal tissue graft in a safe and predictable way.

TISSUE THICKNESS. By varying the angle of the device during use, the clinician can achieve a choice of graft thicknesses, typically 1.5 mm or 2.5 mm.

INSTRUCTIONS.

->Administer local anaesthesia to the maxillary posterior palatal donor site.

->Place the device against the vertical wall, fix your angle according to tissue thickness, and apply gentle pressure whilst drawing the device towards the anterior. 

DONOR AND RECIPIENT SITES.

After preparing the tissue, it can be secured to the recipient area in a variety of ways, depending on the case and the clinician’s preference.  

RECIPIENT SITE.   Suture with non-adsorbing monofilament (Polyamide) or adsorbing (PGCL Monofast). The suture, knot and tissue margin can be further reinforced and protected by applying Periacryl Tissue Adhesive.   

DONOR SITE. Accelerate healing, protect the site and reduce post-operative pain with an Ora-Aid self-adhering dressing or a coating of Periacryl tissue adhesive.
